Acupuncture

Acupuncture is used to treat many conditions. If you are in need of relief, Dr. Aaron Beck of Beck Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Gardner, KS can offer it. He not only provides acupuncture but the latest in chiropractic techniques to help relieve whatever pain you are suffering from.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a technique that comes from traditional Chinese medicine and uses sterile needles inserted through the skin at certain points along unseen meridians in the body to unblock or repair the flow of energy. This energy is called chi. In today's practices, magnets, lasers, and electric pulses may be used in addition to the needles. It is not only used to help with pain but to improve the quality of life.

Neurology, the journal of the American Academy of Neurology, published the results of a study on June 22, 2022, that showed that acupuncture can reduce how often you get tension headaches by 50%. That offers an amazing amount of hope to those who suffer from tension headaches and validation for those who practice the ancient Chinese art of acupuncture.

What does acupuncture do?

Some studies seem to suggest that acupuncture actually encourages the body to heal itself by stimulating the body to release painkillers. It has been shown that acupuncture is particularly effective when it comes to chronic pain in the lower back, the neck, osteoarthritis in the knees, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Migraine prevention has also been shown to be successful with acupuncture.

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health is currently funding studies to examine the effectiveness of acupuncture in reducing the frequency of hot flashes due to menopause, how chemotherapy pain and discomfort can be reduced with acupuncture, and how effective acupuncture is against pain. These study results won't be ready for a while, but in the meantime, if you get results with acupuncture, continue your treatment.
